The Great Wall at Simatai is northeast of Miyun County. This grand structure is 3 miles long and is very steep and treacherous. The Great Wall is an attraction that is perfect for hiking, sightseeing and exploring. The best way to go up and down the wall is by an open air gondola.

Most of the main sites are closed due to their dangerously steep pathways. The Eastern part of the wall is the most demanding but the Western half is much more smooth and easier to explore. Wangjinglou Tower was built at the highest point of the wall and provides breathtaking views of the city and the ruins of the Fairy Tower, Stairway to Heaven, and the Heaven Bridge.

The Great Wall is a magnificent place for adventure and exploration!
